Facial Hair Removal Methods

Facial hairs are one of the common issues that every woman struggles with. To end them up you must have tried different options. But the end result would zero only. As soon as you remove your facial hairs. They again grow back. Today I’m discussing methods of facial hair removal with their pros and cons. Let’s get started. 

  1. Waxing: It’s the most common and most popular method of facial hair removal. They are available in form of cold and warm wax, wax strips, wax beans, etc. 

How does it last long: 5-6 weeks

Pros: Pocket-friendly, easily done in the salon and at home as well. 

Cons: Ingrown Hairs. Also a chance of skin burning.

  1. Shaving or trimming: One of the commonest methods. Whether it’s a manual or electric shaver or trimmers, the results are not long-lasting. And hair grows back. Then you will have to shave your hair again. 

How does it last long: hair grows back in 1-2 days

Pros: Quick and easy to do at home.

Cons: Painful method, skin becomes dark on regular use. Ingrown hairs.

  1. Threading: It’s a very old technique to remove facial hairs. As the only cotton thread is used, hygienic method of facial hair removal. 

How does it last long: 3-6 weeks

Pros: Relatively less painful and hygienic.

Cons: It should be done by professional only.

  1. Laser Hair Removal: One of the popular cosmetic procedures. It’s done using laser hair technology. Hairs are removed by exposing skin to a beam of laser rays. Performed under professional supervision only.

How does it last long: Results are long-lasting

Pros: Painless, safe, and quick hair removal.

Cons: Costly, involved several sittings.

  1. Depilatory creams: Hair removal cream can be easily used. They don’t require professional supervision. However, a patch test is recommended. They also contain chemicals that can be harsh on the skin. 

How does it last: 4-5 weeks

Pros: Painless, inexpensive, and quick hair removal. 

Cons: Hair regrowth is thick, dark skin, can cause allergy and skin irritation.

  1. Epilation: It is done using an epilator that has rotatory razor blades that pull off the hairs like waxing and threading. It grabs many hairs at times. There are chances that hair grows back is fine and soft. Hair takes a long time to grow back. 

How does it last long: 5-6 weeks

Pros: Long-lasting, hygienic, one-time investment, safe for skin, easy to carry because of the compact shape. 

Cons: Painful.

  1. Plucking: Plucking is done using a tweezer to remove unwanted facial hair. 

How does it last long: 3 weeks 

Pros: Good for shaping eyebrows.

Cons: Tedious and slow method. 

  1. Dermaplaning: It is used to remove dead skin cells from superficial skin. In this small hairs also get removed. The process exfoliates your skin making it bright and smooth. 

How does it last long: 4-5 weeks.

Pros: Hair growth is slow and fine hairs. 

Cons: Expensive

  1. Topical Prescriptions: Various topical treatments available that slow down hair growth. 

How does it last long: effective till you use it. 

Pros: Slow hair growth

Cons: The hair grows back as soon you stop using it.

  1. Electrolysis: Good for those whose hairs are thin and not removed by laser hair removal. It’s a permanent method of hair removal. Painful method heat is used to destroy hair follicles. 

How does it last long: Long-lasting.

Pros: Prohibits hair from growing, safe and sterile. 

Cons: Skin scarring, permanent skin damage, allergy, etc.
