Boosting immunity in children through DTP booster shots #DontWaitVaccinate

Parents are going through their biggest dilemma these days. According to them, their child doesn’t need vaccination as they are staying at home. Last week I was taken by surprise when I came to know that one of my close ones skipped their child’s DTP Booster vaccine. They think that their child is not going out, so there is no chance of falling ill. Hence, they don’t get their child vaccinated.

Role of Parents to make sure that their kids stay safe

This is not the only story. Many parents are delaying or skipping the booster shots either out of confusion. Also, they are not sure about a safe place to get their child vaccinated. Also, numerous myths and irrelevant advice stop them from vaccination.

As a result, vaccine-preventable diseases are on the rise again.

According to WHO and UNICEF[1], At least 80 million children are at risk of diseases such as diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis as pandemic interrupts routine vaccination.

Parents need to understand that ignoring vaccination is not an option. They have to take their child to a pediatrician. Also, check for child’s due vaccinations especially the DTP Booster vaccine.

If parents choose to delay, skip, or reject vaccines entirely, there can be risks. Hence. they should make sure that their child receives all of the recommended vaccines on time.

Vaccines are very important for keeping your child healthy by protecting them against vaccine-preventable diseases.

According to the CDC, the right DTP Booster shot[2] is important to provide continued immunity to your child from infectious diseases.

Nowadays the kids stay at home most of the time. If parents don’t take their kids for vaccination, they can become the source of infection for their siblings and older grandparents.

The Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP)[3], recommends vaccination for preschool-age kids (4-6-year-old) with the right DTP Booster vaccine for strong immunity and to protect from diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis (Whooping cough).

Each child who isn’t immunized is susceptible to highly contagious diseases. Pertussis[4] is highly contagious and spreads vigorously through air droplets during coughing and sneezing. Also, an infected child may spread the infection to unimmunized or incompletely immunized infants. Hence, if you think your child is staying at home and cannot get infected then you are wrong. An important step in controlling this infection is the right DTP Booster vaccine.

Boosting immunity in children through a DTP booster shot is a must throughout life. No matter which age group your child belongs to – toddler (15-18 months), preschoolers (4-6-year-old), or adolescent (9-13-year-old) DTP booster shots are a must for boosting immunity. Among children who get all shots of the DTP vaccine at right time, the effectiveness is very high.

For continued protection against infectious disease booster shots are a must. So the best way to protect your child is through timely vaccination. Ask your pediatrician, for the right DTP Booster vaccine, as per your child’s age group. A full dose of DTaP[5] (acellular) with lower side effects is needed before 6years of age for strong immunity.

Your child’s DTP booster vaccination is a must. #DontWaitVaccinate and know more about the Right DTP vaccine.
