Today I’m sharing the easy and delicious Matar Paneer Pulao recipe. Matar paneer pulao is made using two main ingredients. Matar aka green peas. Paneer aka cottage cheese.

These two have high nutritional value. They are a very good source of protein. Green peas are grossly available during winters.

Hence Matar Paneer Pulao or matar pulao is one of the comfort food during winters. But the technique to cook the delicious Matar pulao is always a mystery.

My mother cooks easy and delicious Matar Paneer Pulao Recipe that everyone keeps licking their fingers.

The recipe is easy and made using the ingredients available in the Indian kitchen.

This recipe has been cooking in my home for ages. It’s 100% delicious I guarantee that.

The only thing you need to know is to cook the rice perfectly.

Matar Paneer Pulao Recipe

Preparation Time:1 hr
Cooking Time:1- 1.5hr
Serve:3-4 person
IngredientsQuantity
Green peas 200gm
Green chilies6-7 nos
Oil 2 tbsp
Salt to taste
Water As required for cooking rice
Curd3 tsp
Cinnamon2 inch
Bay leaf1-2no
Green Cardamom2-3 nos
Cumin seeds1 tsp
Black pepper1 tsp
Cloves 1 tsp
Star anise1 no
Cottage Cheese (paneer)100-150gms
Ginger-garlic paste1 tsp
Fennel seeds1tsp
Rice1/2 kg

Matar Paneer Pulao Recipe Method:

1. Turn on the flame & set the cooktop to medium heat. Heat oil in a cooking vessel. Add chopped onions. Fry till it turns golden brown on medium heat. Separate from oil & keep aside.

2. To the same oil add cottage cheese or paneer. Fry till it turns slightly brown. Remove from oil and keep aside.

3. To the same oil add whole spices as mentioned in the recipes. Saute for a minute.

4. Now add green peas, salt, ginger garlic paste and cook for 2-3 minutes.

5. Add curd and saute for 4-5 minutes more. Till aroma starts coming.

6. Add water to this mixture. And bring it to boil.

7. Add rice to the boiling water. Cover the lid till rice is cooked 80%. And you started noticing water bubbles.

8. Add cottage cheese and secret biryani powder. Garnish with fried onions.

9. Now cover the lid and put the matar paneer pulao on dum. High flame 5 min and low flame for 10 min.

10. Easy And Delicious Matar Paneer Pulao Recipe are ready. Serve hot with spiced curd.

Pro Tip: I’ve used here basmati rice soaked for 1.5-2hours. My measuring cup is 250 gm. So here I’ve taken 1/2 kg or 2 cups rice. The rice: water ratio is 1: 1.5. Here I’ve taken 3 cups of water.

For Dum I’ve used wet muslin cloth and wrap around the lid. And cover the cooking vessel. And put a heavyweight on top.
