Myths about Covid19 Vaccine in India

1. MYTH: The COVID-19 vaccine can makes a women infertile or affect women’s fertility.

FACT: This is false. The COVID-19 vaccine will not affect fertility. And have no association with infertility. 

2. Myth: The  COVID19 Vaccine Affect Your Period?

Fact: This is false. A woman can take the Covid vaccine during periods or any other day. Any woman or girl above the age of 18 years should get vaccinated as soon as they can. 

3. Myth: People with underlying conditions like diabetes and heart disease shouldn’t get vaccinated.

Facts: This is FALSE. They are at high risk for getting complications from COVID-19, so they should get vaccinated at the earliest.

4. Myth: Pregnant or lactating/breastfeeding women shouldn’t get vaccinated.

Facts  This is FALSE. According to the CDC, it is fine for pregnant women to get the Covid vaccine. If you’re concerned about the risks and the benefits of the Covid vaccine, talk to your doctor.

Note: So basically the vaccine for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers is not recommended by govt of India because of limited evidence. Pregnant women have not been a part of any COVID-19 vaccine clinical trial so far and should not receive the COVID-19 vaccine at this time, cautioned the Health Ministry in its note on precautions and contraindications. Vaccination for lactating or breastfeeding mothers has started. Govt of India would release an advisory for Covid vaccination in pregnant women soon. 

5. MYTH: Getting the COVID-19 vaccine means I should not need to wear a mask and follow other coronavirus precautions.

FACT: Individuals who get the COVID-19 vaccine done, still need to practice infection prevention precautions. You should wear a mask, practice social distancing and other basic SOPs.

6. Myth: Covid vaccine could cause death

Fact: This is rumors. The vaccine is life-saving. And it does not cause death 

7. Myth: Getting Covid Vaccine will cause COVID infection.

Fact: It is false. The vaccine prevents COVID infection and its related complications.

8. Myth: Vaccine will harm your future breed.

Fact: It is just a rumor. There is no evidence to support this.

9 Myth: Don’t get Covid Vaccine in hot humid summers.

Fact: This is baseless facts and fake information.

10 Myth: Vaccination has been started for children in India

Fact: This is false. Not any country in the world has started vaccination for children. There is no recommendation from WHO on vaccinating children. Trials on children in India will begin soon.
