Protein is one of the most important macronutrients that are essential for growth and repair of muscles tissue. And because of the muscular development most of us, especially fitness enthusiasts consume various protein supplements as a part of daily routine.

There are various sources of protein available. Today we are talking about The Power of Soy Protein. Recently got the opportunity to know more about this plant-based protein in a bloggers meet about “The Power of Soy Protein” organized by Dupont and Ebix India on 29th September 2018 in Delhi.

We got access to some of the most insightful sessions about the Soy Protein via experts. Mr. Indranil Chatterjee, Mrs. Karuna Jaikrishna & Mr. Sujith Sathyadas from DuPont Nutrition & Health and Dr. Namita Nadar from Fortis Hospital through light on the different aspects of Soy Protein.

Protein is very essential for the muscular development of our body. There are various sources of protein available to meet our nutritional needs. All proteins products like beans, milk, cottage cheese, meat, egg, etc contain a different quantity of proteins in it. And we are less familiar with the Soy protein.

WHO recommend Protein Digestibility-Corrected Amino Acid Score (PDCAAS) to check the quality of protein. Soy Protein has PDCAAS of 1.0 which is equivalent in protein quality to dairy protein. Clinical Research shows that it supports heart health, muscle building and maintenance, weight management and healthy growth and development.

Some of the good sources of proteins are tofu, lentils, nuts, cereals, tempeh, nuts, quinoa etc.

WHAT IS SOY PROTEIN?

Soy Protein is a plant-based protein. It is naturally derived from soybeans. Soybean is one of the richest sources of proteins. Soy protein contains fiber, isoflavones, and protein and is a good source of protein especially for vegetarians.

1) 0.8-1gm of protein is needed per kg body weight to meet the nutritional requirements.

2) Soy Protein is high-quality plant-based protein this means it provides all the essential amino acids to support growth and development.

3) On Consuming soy protein satisfy our satiety means gives a feeling of fullness.

4) Soy protein is an easily digested source of protein.

5) Soy protein helps in muscular development and in addition, it also supports the loss of fat while maintaining lean or muscle mass during weight loss.

6) Consumption of Soy protein lowers the cholesterol level and reduce the risk of heart disease.
