Raise your words, not your voice – Rumi

I begin the 3 Quotes, 3 Days Challenge day 2 with – Todays Quote is on “Raise your words, not your voice – Rumi”

“Raise your words, not your voice. It is rain that grows flowers, not thunder.” ― Rumi

This quote is by Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Rumi, a Persian poet. It means that one should not raise voice and use bad words no matter how tense the situation is. Instead, raise the impact of your words, let them have a meaning and let them reflect you so that it fills up others heart with love, not hatred.

I shared this quote as nowadays People raise their voice use bad words. We’ve all had heated discussions where voices were raised or have had moments where we yell. But if you look back at those times, Do you think were you able to get the result you were looking for? From my experience, I’m going to guess that the answer is no. Just raise your voice and the front person stop considering your emotions. Take the polite way, and choose your words and temper wisely. Raise won’t solves your issue. You don’t have to be loud, to get the other person listen to you. They are not deaf and raising voice only worsen the situations. So better Raise your words, not your voice- Rumi, will easies up your Journey.

I choose this picture because for Raise your words, not your voice – Rumi:

  • Words & Voice should always be an equilibrium
  • if we use wrong words & raise voice it will vanish all the beauty of our garden & if we use right words & polite voice our garden will flourish 🙂

These are my way of explanation for this quote. What is your favorite quote? How well you defined it? Did you feel connected to your favorite quote? Don’t forget to share. Looking forward to knowing your thoughts.

  1. Rumi is one of my fav people to read daily – his quotes pack so much punch yet are so light to read. I loved this one and so glad you shared this for its very relevant in the noise of today. We all seem to be in a line to be heard rather than hear others.

  2. This is so true. What can be done with kind and soft words can surely be never achieved by using bad language, shouting or yelling at the top of ones voice. But many a time sadly, this becomes quite difficult to implement and we sadly end up losing our temper :(.
