Lifestyle WOMANISM

I WISH I WERE a boy

I wish I were a boy

Splendid life, no reasons to cry !!!

Boon of lifetime freedom
Night outs less boredom
Can eat whatever I want
Can wear what I wish
Unrestricted lifestyle
No compromise with a bit.

I wish I were a boy

Splendid life, no reasons to cry !!!

Can fly high on my dream
Can study to infinite beam
No questions on late
No restrictions to hate
Special treatment by society
That’s boon by almighty

I wish I were a boy

Splendid life, no reasons to cry !!!

Can live with parents dear
Can move alone without fear
No list of rules to follow
Life is soft like marshmallow
Move without layers of makeup
Enjoy holiday no worry to wake up

I wish I were a boy

Splendid life, no reasons to cry !!!

Sometimes I think is this life a worth?
Why is girl treated like a curse?
Can society accept us,
The way we are?
When the day will come
No woman at war
That’s my little heart pray
Hope education make new way

  1. Beautifully composed Dr. Bushra. It so wonderfully portrays the situations girls have to go through and how inclined the society has become to the male side. But I am sure this perspective is surely shifting as we speak, many girls/women are breaking down these walls created by the society and I am glad that I got to know one such woman through this poetry. So let’s hope no woman/girl ever has to wish to be someone other than who they are. 🙂

    1. Thanks for supportive feedback , yes the condition has changed a lot & hope it will become better for the remaining ones 🙂

  2. Bushra your poem broke my heart a bit. In fact i read the title and I got depressed. Can we contest anything that you said? No. But can we be happy that this is a situation? No.

I hope my children write a different poem someday…

    But loved the take 🙂

    1. Yes the picturing is in changing phase & wish to see revolution soon that everybody says I wish i were a girl
      thanks 🙂

  3. Bushra this is such a heart rendering poem. I know the situation of women isnt good. But I still wish to be a girl and have all the fun. Its the society and the bogus rules that cause pain.

  4. Bushra — how much ever we’d like to take pride in being women and rule the world .. the message in your poem is quite true . That’s why I wanted a son. Its a tough world out there and as a boy you can traverse it slightly better..

  5. Bushra, how true is this even in today’s supposedly modern times. Sad and yet a fact. It reminds me of an ad on TV, ladkiyan rulati nahi hain. While women empowerment is crucial, its also important to make our boys more sympathetic towards their mothers and sisters.
