The sensation of fear is bad enough, It can damage your self-esteem.If you let it stop you, your level of it gets bigger and more powerful.Each one of us has some shortcomings or we can say fears that act as barriers to our personal development.
What am I fear about?
My fear is darkness.Darkness always gives me goosebumps with a lot of hallucinations. I am never bold enough to sleep in the darkroom or to move around during late hours within my house only. Everyone makes a lot of fun of me. They pulled my leg by passing remarks like ” डरपोक ” ” looser ” blah blah. These gestures always pulled back my confidence to zero level.
“The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.”
This wisdom quote shows they had it all but managed to overcome it.
How I overcome my fear?
This problem becomes a headache for my parents.My mom always tried to help me either by being very sweet or by being sour. But I never overcome from this. One day my father’s friend & her wife came for dinner. They both are a psychologist and as usual, my parents share this problem of mine with them. They asked me to come over their home.
How I undergo counseling?
A lot of questions comes to my mind about counseling – not very much confident about it. How can a counseling help me to fight my fear? To be very true it’s not very common at that time, this incidence happens to be in late 90’s. At that time, psychological counseling looked up like serious mental illness. But lucky to have liberal parents 🙂 I went to catch them up with my dad. Doctor uncle asked me to sit on a chair and let me concentrate at a point. And then asked me to go to deep sleep.
What is the outcome of counseling?
Trust me my first session is so relaxing, feels very light after attending it. It brings confidence in me. After that, I attended 2 more sessions and saw a drastic improvement in my fear. I am not saying that I totally get rid of my fear. But the intensity of my fear is reduced a lot about < 5% only. Now I can sleep alone in my room without light. Can roam around my home at night. Seen a lot of positive growth in my personality.
